Florida Atlantic University’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, located in Fort Pierce, solicits candidates for an Assistant, Associate or Full Research Professor position. The ideal candidate would be a broadly trained marine biological oceanographer with a research focus on zooplankton behavior, ecology, or physiology. Applicants with either individual or community/ecosystem level approaches to characterizing the role of zooplankton in research themes including but not limited to, larval ecology and connectivity, physical-biological coupling, food web dynamics, plankton biodiversity, bioluminescence and grazing ecology, etc., are welcome. Applicants who apply innovative approaches through either novel lab/field-based technologies or ecological modelling towards furthering the understanding of behavioral ecology, including swarming dynamics, patchiness, individual/group feeding behavior, and animal-fluid interactions, are also welcome. The candidate will also have opportunities to develop and teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses related to Biological Oceanography, Marine Ecology and similar topics. Candidates should be willing to work with a team of other scientists and engineers in a university culture that fosters innovation and collaboration within our institute, with colleagues at FAU, and with local national and international partners. Candidates are expected to develop a strong independent research program that would lead to stewardship and wise use of the oceans.
