About The Position

The Freedman lab studies the neural basis of vision and cognition using advanced behavioral and neurophysiological techniques. A Research Professional position is available to conduct experiments and data analysis on the neural mechanisms underlying visually based decision making.

Requirements

  • PhD in related field.
  • Knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience.
  • Independent research and data analysis.
  • Bench experience with cell-based assays and flow cytometry.
  • Tumor tissue sample analysis.
  • In vivo mouse models of cancer.
  • At least one peer-reviewed publication in a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain calm and courteous demeanor and to work productively despite heavy workload, competing priorities, complex problems, and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills required.

  • In vivo electrophysiological expertise.
  • In vivo behavioral task design and training in animal models.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in research projects that focus on investigating the neurobiology of visual decision making in non-human primates.
  • Performs experiments and collects and analyzes data.
  • Participates in the promotion of a research project.
  • Participates in the preparation and writing of grant applications and reports, and co-authors/authors scientific research manuscripts.
  • Provides peer review of grant applications and scientific manuscripts.
  • Collaborates on development of new research projects with academic and community-based organizations.
  • May present work at scientific meetings.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
