This person will provide leadership in assuring the integrity and quality of clinical research trials. The Research Nurse Specialist 3 will independently plan and implement recruitment procedures, manage enrollment of the trial, and ensure compliance with protocols. They will function as a departmental resource regarding all clinical trial operations and ensure the development of staff members through orientation, training programs, and work experience. This person understands and implements clinical study protocols and can conduct multiple studies independently, along with collaborating with other team members in a meaningful and inspirational way. They will utilize nursing skills to deliver goal-focused, individualized, and safe care as it relates to uncomplicated research participants, and with assistance for complicated research participants. The Research Nurse Specialist 3 is proactively involved in quality improvement through ongoing assessment and the identification of issues and planning and evaluation of quality improvement, along with utilizing their knowledge of disease processes to observe for and report adverse events to the principal investigator and all regulatory authorities as required by protocol, policies/ procedures, and regulations . The Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism has a rich tradition of clinical, investigative and training excellence. With over 70 faculty and staff members, the division participates in a wide range of clinical programs and clinical and basic science research. Training the next generation of physicians and scientists is one of our main missions and involves programs in Endocrinology and Obesity Medicine, as well as funded T32 and T35 training programs.
