About The Position

The McGill University Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor (Clinical). The professorial rank will be determined according to the candidate’s qualifications and experience. This will be a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The incumbent will be the Director of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). Within the MUHC, the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism spans the Glen site (Royal Victoria Hospital), the Montreal General Hospital, and Hôpital Lachine. The MUHC is one of McGill’s major teaching hospitals affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec. The Department of Medicine is a leader in academic medicine, and our educational and research missions support excellent and innovative clinical programs across our teaching hospitals. The Department is seeking a transformational leader who will take one of our high performing Divisions to the next level of academic excellence. The ideal candidate will have a clear vision of the evolving nature of Endocrinology and Metabolism, a demonstrated ability to communicate that vision, the skill to encourage others to share it and be an accomplished leader in academic medicine. Prospective candidates will have a proven academic track-record in basic and/or clinical research. The MUHC Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism is highly committed to excellence in clinical care and innovation, research, and medical education. The Division has a rich history of research excellence and international profile in many areas including diabetes, calcium/bone metabolism and thyroid disorders. Current research areas include metabolic disorders and the brain, energy metabolism and bone/muscle metabolism. The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism is one of fifteen divisions within the Department of Medicine. In addition to playing an important clinical role in the Department, division members have excellent opportunities for collaborative educational and research endeavors with protected time for scholarly activities to ensure rewarding, fulfilling career development. Applicants are encouraged to simultaneously apply for and be considered for the McGill Director of the Endocrinology and Metabolism, although this is not required.

Requirements

  • Hold an MD degree and must have completed subspecialty training in Endocrinology and Metabolism
  • Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) and be eligible for licensure in Quebec and certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec
  • Have strong leadership experience
  • Demonstrate internationally-recognized academic accomplishment in Endocrinology and Metabolism research and teaching
  • Have clinical expertise suited to tertiary hospital settings
  • Have experience in training students, residents, and fellows in clinical settings
  • Be fluent in English with a working knowledge of French
  • Be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families and health care professionals
