The Research Manager for the Center for Public Health Practice (CPHP) will play a central role in supporting and advancing CPHP’s research and education/training program through grants, partnerships, and program development activities. Working closely with the CPHP Director and other College of Public Health research and education leaders, this position supports a highly collaborative, service-focused, and academically productive research and practice center. They contribute to the strategic growth of CPHP’s research and training enterprise by providing high-level administrative, analytical, and coordination support across a diverse portfolio of sponsored projects and interact with public health department leaders at the city, county and state level within and outside Ohio, including Ohio Health Commissioners and leadership at the Ohio Department of Health, among other health-related state agencies. Manages and administers research programs and the evaluation of health-related programs and activities. Represents the center in working with funding agencies and developing financial resources and programs. Collaborates with faculty and staff members on developing and implementing research programs and agenda. Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, policies and sponsors related to research. Will serve as PI on funded projects on occasion. Supports researchers with preparation of grant applications to ensure timely submission of proposals. Drafts documents and assists the coordination of activities with sponsors, investigators, and other departmental staff as well as OSU entities (other departments, centers, etc.) in order to deliver complete application documents to OSU College of Public Health grants management and Office of Sponsored Programs. Creates text and populates documents with select portions of research, including literature reviews and complex methodological techniques, and program grant applications. The Research Manager supports the CPHP director, affiliated researchers, and staff in the early-stage identification, analysis, planning and development of strategic, multidisciplinary funding opportunities. Enables and enhances the competitiveness of research programs and proposals for external support through strategic, proactive and capacity-building activities, including with current and potential community partners. Activities may include funding opportunity identification, research team building and funding, and federal agencies and community outreach, engagement, dissemination, and education/training activities. This is strategic work that enables our center’s researchers and affiliates to build a more robust portfolio about their work to create a strategic advantage when they are applying for research grants and contracts.
