The University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Research Manager D for the Institute for Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism’s Rodent Metabolic Phenotyping Core. This role involves the daily management of all core activities, including training and supervising research specialists and technicians. The manager will design and perform metabolic studies in mouse models, conduct chemical and immunoassays on tissues, analyze assay results, and communicate findings to investigators. Responsibilities also include maintaining core usage statistics, collaborating with the Core Director on long-range planning, developing and implementing lab safety guidelines, managing the service center budget, overseeing lab facilities, and ordering/maintaining supplies. The position requires establishing expertise in technical and theoretical aspects of core assays such as metabolic clamps, indirect calorimetry, telemetry, bomb calorimetry, DEXA, and EchoMRI. The manager will also interface with companies and IT to troubleshoot equipment and software issues, and consult with investigators on experimental design.
