About The Position

The Research Laboratory Technician performs routine analysis and laboratory testing procedures for clinical trials. The role is on-site in Irving, Texas, or Houston, Texas, with daytime and evening shift opportunities. The technician handles clinical-trial samples according to specific protocol guidelines, documents and enters data, maintains laboratory equipment and supplies, and supports sample shipping and storage. IATA Dangerous Goods handling certification is required; training is provided after hire if the technician is not already certified.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in the sciences.
Comfort using Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases.
IATA Dangerous Goods handling certification, or willingness to receive training after hire.

Nice To Haves

One year of prior laboratory experience involving sample processing and shipping; preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Label, receive, process, and log clinical-trial samples such as blood, urine, tissue, and stool according to study protocols.
Request and receive tissue samples from outside pathology facilities.
Send tissue blocks to vendors for slide preparation and ship the slides to the study laboratory.
Record clinical-trial data accurately on required paper and electronic forms.
Enter data into the departmental database.
Identify sample-data discrepancies and coordinate with clinical staff to resolve them.
Organize and store reagents according to safety instructions.
Maintain laboratory equipment and a clean, orderly laboratory environment.
Restock laboratory consumables at the end of the day.
Manage inventory of clinical-trial supplies, kits, and departmental supplies.
Perform administrative tasks, including filing, scanning, copying, and emailing work documents.
Ship or store samples according to protocol before the end of the shift.
Accurately prepare collection tubes and aliquots for the following day's clinic.
Perform other duties as assigned.
