About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our research team as a research associate in the Creighton University Department of Pharmacy Sciences. The research laboratory technician will handle laboratory animal, rabbit as per approved protocol, measures intraocular pressure (IOP), plan the items needed for glaucoma induction, and extracts ocular tissues at the end of the study. Under general supervision, provides a wide variety of complex laboratory testing and technical lab support for a research facility. Requires knowledge of the processes/procedures in testing, documenting experiments, maintaining laboratory notebook, analyzing data, and report using complex statistical computer software. This position is generally Monday-Friday but may require some evening, weekend, and holiday work. This position is not a remote position and employee will need to be on campus. This is a grant-funded position beginning July 1, 2026- February 28, 2027. Once grant funding has been exhausted, the position will end. We are looking for a highly self-motivated Research Associate with the ability to work both in vitro and in vivo collaboratively within a team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to investigate cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the pathophysiology of neurological diseases and disorders such as stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease with a focus on the role of neuroinflammation, epigenetic regulation and microRNAs, and on protein regulation and degradation such as ubiquitination and autophagy. Our research aims to identify novel therapeutic targets for these challenging conditions. The successful candidate will engage in discussions with the Principal Investigator (PI) and other scientists in the lab to design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret results. Opportunities for involvement in the preparation of manuscripts and scientific reports will be provided.

Requirements

  • Must have a PhD degree in Biotechnology.
  • 2-4 years of research lab experience involving molecular biology techniques, animal handling, and developing drug delivery systems.
  • Understanding of research methods, laboratory techniques, and care of laboratory animal and equipment
  • Ability to interpret data, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Proficiency in using Image J, design of experiments tools, GraphPad prisms, tools for predicting drug-likeness, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics
  • Detail oriented
  • Analytical skills
  • Strong work ethic, excellent written and communication skills, and the ability to work independently
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending upon research needs
  • B.S./B.A. or M.S. in areas of biology, chemistry, or a related field of science.
  • 3+ year’s research lab experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and analytical skills required.
  • Requires knowledge of the processes/procedures in testing, documenting experiments, maintaining laboratory notebook, analyzing data, and reporting using complex statistical computer software.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong background on neurological disorders and diseases preferred.
  • Prior experience in rodent surgery and handling preferred.
