The Lagier-Tourenne laboratory is seeking a motivated individual to join our efforts in exploring disease mechanisms and developing therapeutic strategies for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and dementia. Under the minimal supervision of the Principal Investigator and other researchers of the team, the incumbent will contribute to multiple organizational aspects of the laboratory that include ordering common laboratory supplies, general maintenance of equipment, establishment of procedures to comply with health and safety regulations and development of protocols and SOPs. The incumbent will participate to the research activity of the lab and is expected to be fully engaged in the scientific projects, as well as participate to the scientific lab meetings. They will perform laboratory experiments which include DNA and RNA purification, quantitative PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blots, DNA cloning, immunostaining, high throughput sequencing, CRISPR/Cas9 editing, lentiviral and mammalian cell cultures including iPSC-derived neurons. Experience in mouse handling and mouse histology is preferred but not necessary. They will be responsible for the analysis of the results and participate in the preparation of manuscripts. The individual must pay attention to details, work independently under minimal supervision, possess good verbal and written communication skills, and work well as part of a team. Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing and preparing samples, conducting experiments, and recording and analyzing data. Candidates who are in the process of completing their bachelor's degree have a grace period of six months from their hire date (up to 1 year if starting per diem) to provide degree equivalency verification.
