The Research Technician I/II will work independently under general supervision of Mark Albers, M.D., Ph.D. to assist postdoctoral fellow and junior faculty with molecular and cellular neurobiology techniques of cell culture, mouse husbandry, and mouse experiments including drug administration, dissection of olfactory epithelium and brain, sectioning of brain tissue, immunohistochemistry and quantitative microscopy. Expertise in animal husbandry, immunohistochemistry, PCR RT-PCR, and statistical analysis using standard packages such as R, SAS or SPSS will be preferred. Coordinating efforts with the other teams to prepare samples and libraries for proteomic and RNA-seq analyses in human cell lines and transgenic mouse models in this translational medicine project is essential. Communications skills and organization are important to coordinate efforts with collaborating teams between MGH, Harvard Medical School and outside hospitals. Completion of animal training and confidential handling of personalized health information is required. Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing and preparing samples, conducting experiments, and recording and analyzing data. Candidates who are in the process of completing their bachelor's degree have a grace period of six months from their hire date (up to 1 year if starting per diem) to provide degree equivalency verification.
