This position performs routine laboratory tests and procedures as directed, with supervision. Collects data via laboratory experiments utilizing standard laboratory equipment, structured interviews, library research, data processing and/or other research techniques. If applicable, after appropriate training, assists in surgery and the care of animals. If applicable, after appropriate training and with supervision, uses radioactive, infectious, bio-hazardous, and/or toxic substances. Records data according to project requirements. If applicable, after appropriate training, assist with surgical procedures, as necessary. Processes acquired data and assists in its summarization using standard scientific techniques including computer programs. Makes periodic reports of project status to supervisor. Assists in care and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and work area. Alerts supervisor to equipment and supply needs. Performs clerical duties incidental to research tasks as required. Attends meetings as required. Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, and/or conferences. Performs other laboratory related functions as required or directed.
