About The Position

Sartorius has an onsite position available for a Research Intern (Nanoparticle Analysis) in our Marlborough, MA location. In this role, you will be expected to design and execute experiments systematically, analyze and report the results weekly. You will also work closely with internal and external subject matter experts to identify and understand the nature of nascent technologies, including both characterization and purification systems. In the Research Intern role, you will serve as a critical contributor to the development and integration of Sartorius’ emerging technologies for characterization and purification of different types of nanoparticles such as extracellular vesicles and exosomes. These leading-edge platforms will be utilized in basic research as well as the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Hands on position starting May 2025. This position is onsite at our Marlborough, MA site.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Bioengineering, or closely related discipline with formal education and experience with nanoparticle characterization methods such as flow cytometry and Nanoparticle tracking analysis.
  • Experience & knowledge of state-of-the-art nanoparticles analytical technologies and their application for research and development.
  • Good knowledge of current developments in lipid nanoparticles, extracellular vesicles and other nanoparticle technologies.
  • Previous hands-on experience with characterization and fluorescence labeling optimization of nanoparticles.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with specialists from target biological application areas and engineering disciplines such as mechanical (hardware, fluidic, thermal), electrical, software, sensor technology (optical, electronical), and chemical.
  • Experience working as part of multi-partner R&D projects.

Responsibilities

  • Development & testing of Sartorius’ emerging platforms and processes for nanoparticles (e.g., Lipid Nanoparticles and extracellular vesicles) analytics.
  • Conceive, research & support development of prototype platforms through to proof of concept.
  • Work closely with Sartorius product management and development teams to prioritize areas of technology research, expected to extend beyond current product roadmaps.
  • Strategic research & development, and transfer in, of analytical and purification technologies for nanoparticles to provide a basis for evolution of current and future Sartorius nanoparticle products.
  • Gather, analyze and define requirements for analytical system functionality.
  • Provide support or guidance to technical support team and R&D teams as needed for transfer of technologies developed and/or adopted into the Sartorius product development or OEM organizations.
