About The Position

The Department of Dermatology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Instructor to join the laboratory of Dr. Richard Wang, a nationally recognized leader in dermatologic research and the Vice Chair of Research. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing research program focused on translational discoveries that bridge fundamental biology and clinical dermatology. Specific areas of interest in the lab include RNA biochemistry, RNA therapeutics, and genetic skin disease.

Requirements

  • PhD in the biomedical sciences
  • Strong publication record and experience in translational or basic science research required.

Nice To Haves

  • First author research publications in lab’s areas of interest (RNA biology, RNA therapeutics, and/or skin biology).
  • Proficiency with research techniques in biochemistry and molecular genetics including the following: protein and nucleic acid isolation; RNA design and synthesis, DNA and protein electrophoresis; PCR; immunoblotting; RNA purification; fluorescent microscopy; cell and tissue culture; lentiviral transduction; animal studies.
  • >5 years research experience in one of the following fields biochemistry, cancer biology, or molecular biology.
  • Experience in biochemistry, including RNA biology
  • Hands-on experience with animal models
  • Experience with cell culture, including BSL2+ work

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research aligned with the lab’s focus areas.
  • Design and execute experiments in molecular biology, biochemistry, and dermatologic disease models.
  • Design experiments, conduct experiments, analyze data, prepare manuscripts, and contribute to grant applications.
  • Mentor and supervise research trainees, including graduate student, postdocs, and technicians in experimental design, data interpretation, and manuscript/grant preparation.
  • Support interdisciplinary research initiatives and grant renewals (e.g., T32, P30, SPORE).
