The TBE IT Research & Instructional (RIS) Manager leads a cross-campus team of system administrators who support instructional systems, research computing, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning initiatives across Cornell Bowers, Cornell Duffield Engineering, and Cornell Tech. Working in close partnership with the Senior IT Director of TBE IT, this role owns the roadmap, capacity planning, and operations for research and teaching compute platforms—including the Unicorn cluster—while setting standards and priorities that align technical investments with faculty and instructional needs across three schools in two geographic locations. The RIS team is part of the Cornell Bowers, Duffield, and Tech IT Service Group (TBE IT), which provides comprehensive IT support—including end-user support, instructional technology, research computing, networking, applications and reporting, cybersecurity guidance, and AV services—to a community of nearly 10,000 faculty, staff, and students, in close collaboration with the broader Cornell IT community. While position responsibilities vary, every member of our community is expected to foster a culture of belonging and a healthy work environment by communicating across differences; being cooperative, collaborative, open, and welcoming; showing respect, compassion, and empathy; engaging and supporting others regardless of background or perspective; speaking up when others are being excluded or treated inappropriately; and supporting work/life integration of oneself and others.
