About The Position
The San Diego State University Library is accepting applications for their temporary full-time Assistant Librarian pool. This position is responsible for in-person and online reference, research services, and instruction, and other services supporting the students and faculty at SDSU. The successful candidate will possess strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; and experience with public service, teaching, and library research.
Requirements
- ALA-accredited master’s degree or equivalent foreign degree.
- A demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity
- Experience providing reference assistance and familiarity with reference tools
Nice To Haves
- Experience teaching information literacy in a variety of disciplines
- Experience in the development of online tutorials or web guides
Responsibilities
- Participate as a general reference librarian at the reference desk. Provide the entire range of in-person and online LibChat reference services, including some research consultations at the undergraduate and graduate level.
- Help with the supervision and training of student workers who assist at the reference desk and online LibChat reference services.
- Conduct course-related information literacy instruction for undergraduate courses as needed, including but not limited to, required rhetoric and communications classes.
- Conduct orientation tours for potential students, new students, and other groups as needed.
- Help with the review and update of online research guides for ADA compliance.
- Other duties as needed.
