About The Position

The Atukorale Laboratory, part of UMass Amherst Biomedical Engineering, is located at UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester, MA. This position will be based in Worcester, MA. The role involves performing scientific studies and collecting/analyzing data in areas such as nanomaterials synthesis and chemistry, materials characterization, mammalian cell culture, molecular biology assays, animal husbandry, animal surgery, animal imaging, and animal treatment studies. The position also includes fundamental laboratory management, such as quality control of reagents and maintenance of equipment, and preparing scientific manuscripts for submission and peer-review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biology, or closely related fields is preferred.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in normal and emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scientific studies and collect/analyze data involving nanomaterials synthesis and chemistry, materials characterization, mammalian cell culture, molecular biology assays, animal husbandry, animal surgery, animal imaging, and animal treatment studies.
  • Responsible for fundamental laboratory management, such as quality control of reagents and maintenance of equipment.
  • Prepare scientific manuscripts for submission and navigate the peer-review process.
  • Performs related duties as assigned or required to meet Department, Executive Area/Division, and University goals and objectives.
