The Jefferson Primary Care Research Center (PCRC) at Thomas Jefferson University seeks a senior PhD-level primary care researcher. The faculty member will be appointed within the Department of Family and Community Medicine and supported by an endowed professorship. PCRC is a university-level center that strengthens the university’s primary care research portfolio in alignment with Jefferson Health’s clinical mission. It offers an opportunity to conduct high-impact, practice-based research across a large primary care system, with access to more than 1 million patients and clinical networks for prospective studies. Infrastructure includes pilot study funding, expert help with grant development and review, data analytic support, and access to extensive electronic medical record data for retrospective research. The center’s areas of strength include primary care innovation, cardiovascular health, lifestyle medicine, geriatrics, cancer prevention, integrated behavioral health, palliative care, and women’s health. Jefferson Health is a 32-hospital system serving more than 1 million primary care patients across Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. Jefferson Primary Care includes 98 practices in the greater Philadelphia area, serving 560,000 people across diverse communities, including community-based sites in low-income neighborhoods. The Department of Family and Community Medicine has more than 50 faculty members, three divisions, and three specialized centers, with clinical, research, educational, and community programming. The faculty member will build or maintain an independent, extramurally funded research portfolio that leverages Jefferson Primary Care’s data systems, clinical and operational initiatives, and practice-based research network. The position also provides consultative support on research design and methodology to departmental faculty, helps develop research opportunities with colleagues across the university, and contributes to a practice-based research network. The role includes collaboration with health services leadership to align research with institutional priorities such as care model redesign, patient-centered quality initiatives, and health equity, as well as mentoring faculty and research staff.
