About The Position
The purpose of this role is to supervise undergraduate laboratory staff, manage supplies, oversee the cleaning and sterilization of glassware, organize the physical facilities, maintain equipment, serve as the UTEX safety officer, assist the curator in supervision of undergraduate research projects, maintain the cryogenic storage facilities, and oversee cryopreservation projects.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
Nice To Haves
- Experience with macro and microalgae
- Experience with algal DNA extraction, PCR, and bioinformatics
- Experience with cryopreservation of microalgae
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the work of undergraduate students, including training on cryopreservation and DNA projects.
- Oversee the CCA cryopreservation program.
- Perform cryogenic inventory and database backups.
- Perform and assist with research projects.
- Oversees the CCA DNA barcoding project.
- Maintain laboratory equipment.
- Oversee culture media production.
- Maintain the cryogenic storage facilities.
