About The Position

This position involves laboratory management and contributions to research on reverse transcriptases and related enzymes. The role includes responsibilities as a Laboratory Safety Officer, managing UT facilities contacts, ensuring laboratory compliance, training and supervising undergraduate students, arranging equipment repair, and overseeing laboratory accounts and purchases. Additionally, the role requires performing protein purification, biochemical assays, molecular biology, cloning, and other core competencies, with a willingness to learn new methods as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Laboratory Safety Officer (radioactivity, Lab asset and EHS management, chemical, biological)
  • Manage UT facilities contacts
  • Ensure laboratory compliance (personnel training, chemical inventory, BSL2 inventory, writing protocols)
  • Hire, train, and supervise undergraduate students
  • Arrange equipment and laboratory repair
  • Monitor laboratory accounts and make and oversee lab purchases
  • Perform protein purification
  • Conduct biochemical assays
  • Perform molecular biology techniques
  • Perform cloning
  • Utilize other core competencies
  • Learn other methods if needed
