Purpose: The Research Engineering/Scientist Associate II will conduct advanced research, assist in establishing protocols and facilitiaties related to the laboratory. The RESA II will collaborate with other labs on projects and provide guidance on related projects to other lab members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• Two years of experience in a relevant laboratory research experience in molecular biology or related disciplines.
• Experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, cloning, recombinant protein expression, and purification.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Experience working in BSL2 laboratory environments.
• Familiarity with enzyme activity assays and protein characterization techniques.
• Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, GraphPad, R, Python).
• Strong experimental design and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments.
• Manage complex equipment setup, training, maintenance, and safety protocols.
• Conduct collaborative research with other labs at UT Austin and other institutions.
• Contribute to scholarly publications, grant writing, and progress reports.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in their research projects.
• Administrative tasks
