About The Position

Conducts laboratory research, analyzes samples, and issues project reviews and final reports. Evaluates new raw materials and determines the best use of recycled and scrap materials. Additional responsibilities include conducting research and development projects, providing plant and process assistance, and planning and implementing new or alternate raw material strategies. This role also involves preparing technical reports and presentations, maximizing the benefits of data collection (including production and QA data), verifying the need for current data collection, collecting new data as needed, and setting up review processes to create necessary information for running processes and verifying quality. The position also focuses on optimizing data collection methods to minimize costs associated with analysis, retention, and retrieval. Solves manufacturing process issues through experimental evaluations, including modifications to processes and product formulas, under research guidance. Acts as a liaison between the plant and the research group, and supports efforts related to work trials, troubleshooting, and modeling the plant process at the ATRC (R&D facility) pilot plant.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering or Material Science
  • Knowledge of development process
  • Knowledge of material science/chemistry
  • Knowledge of forming and firing processes
  • Knowledge of refractory materials
  • Knowledge of refractory applications
  • Motivation and ingenuity
  • Three (3) years experience in development or process engineering including ceramics, materials science, or related research
