About The Position

The Aerodynamics & Acoustics Discipline at RTX Technology Research Center (RTRC) is seeking candidates with expertise in computational and/or experimental aeroacoustics or hydroacoustics. This role involves joining an integrated team of engineers and technicians dedicated to advancing innovative technologies for aerospace and defense applications. The successful candidate will collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to perform technology, product, and program research using state-of-the-art R&D principles, methods, and tools. They will develop pioneering solutions to both fundamental and applied research challenges, demonstrate creativity in delivering advanced technologies, and communicate results effectively through written reports and presentations. The position also includes contributing to research proposal development for RTX business units and government agencies.

Requirements

  • An advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent military education and experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in fundamental principles of fluid dynamics and acoustics, including acoustic analogies and unsteady fluid flow phenomena.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the application of computational and/or experimental skills towards the development of new technologies.

  • Development and evaluation of noise‑reduction concepts, including acoustic liners.
  • Wave phenomena in fluids and solids, including acoustic metamaterials.
  • Application of ultrasound‑based measurement and inspection techniques.
  • Use of advanced sensing concepts and signal‑processing techniques.
