About The Position

The Office of the Vice President for Research, Scholarship and Creative Endeavors (OVPR) at UT Austin is seeking a work-study student associate to support the Research Development (RD) staff. The OVPR's mission is to foster the expansion of scholarly endeavors at UT Austin by building capacity, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and supporting the research enterprise. This role will assist with a variety of administrative and general office tasks and projects, which may include event support, data analysis, and communications requests.

Requirements

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to express thoughts clearly and ask questions.
  • Experience using computer and office equipment in a general office customer service setting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and UT applications.
  • Organization and problem-solving skills with exceptional multi-tasking; ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Strong, independent, and collaborative work ethic.
  • Current undergraduate at UT Austin enrolled/registered for the current semester, and in good academic standing.
  • Financial aid work-study recipient.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Previous customer service experience or administrative support.

Responsibilities

  • Support general front desk and office operations tasks with a high level of customer service.
  • Assist with on-campus event planning, logistics, and meeting coordination, including material preparation and room setup/reset.
  • Handle office mail distribution/delivery and shipping requests.
  • Assist with inventory and office supplies maintenance.
  • Help prepare content for newsletters.
  • Ensure the RD suite is organized and perform light cleaning duties.
  • Collect, manage, and analyze data using Excel.
  • Demonstrate a strong, independent, and collaborative work ethic.
  • Be punctual and communicate changes to work schedule in advance.
  • Implement good decision-making and seek assistance when needed.
  • Communicate and build relationships with RD staff.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
