About The Position
Promise Confections is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Temporary Research & Development Lab Assistant to support its confectionery R&D team in Pittsburgh. This hands-on learning opportunity involves assisting with the development and testing of confectionery products alongside the R&D team. It is suitable for someone interested in food science, chemistry, biology, culinary science, product development, or the confectionery industry. Students are encouraged to apply, but enrollment in a degree program is not required. Previous laboratory, food, kitchen, manufacturing, or R&D experience is a plus but is not required. Promise Confections is an award-winning manufacturer of chocolate and confectionery products. Its capabilities include panning, enrobing, extruding, clusters, barks, brittles, gummies, and breath mint and sour candy tableting. The company services major retailers and offers private-label and contract manufacturing services. Requirements

Nice To Haves
- Previous laboratory, food, kitchen, manufacturing, or R&D experience is a plus, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Weigh, measure, mix, and prepare samples according to established procedures.
- Assist with product testing and sample evaluations.
- Follow food safety, laboratory, and workplace safety procedures.
- Clean and care for basic R&D equipment.
- Assist the R&D team with day-to-day laboratory activities.
- Learn about confectionery ingredients, formulation, processing, and product development.
- Perform other tasks to support the R&D team as needed.
