About The Position

The R&D Intern participates in laboratory analysis and pilot plant data acquisition for various types of evaporation and crystallization processes. As part of the Research & Development team, you will work with Research Engineers and Research Chemists executing experimental protocols, meeting quality and schedule goals, and ensuring research objectives are achieved. You will work on projects from the initial concept phase, through laboratory testing, data analysis, and protocol development.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Must have completed junior year prior to internship start date
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good technical writing and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team and department projects
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks at hand
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow laboratory safety protocols and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Assist Research Engineers and Research Chemists in conducting laboratory analysis and pilot plant data acquisition for evaporation and crystallization processes
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory testing equipment, ensuring proper operation and data integrity
  • Obtain, organize, and analyze experimental data
  • Perform engineering design calculations related to research findings and process optimization under the guidance of experienced Research Engineers
  • Assist in developing, documenting, and validating laboratory test protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks, project records, and technical documentation
  • Validate that all experimental data, test results, and technical documentation are completely and accurately recorded and consistent
  • Communicate findings and observations effectively with Research Engineers, Research Chemists, and cross-functional teams through written reports and verbal updates
  • Assist with project issue resolution related to experimental design, testing, and data interpretation
  • Assist with additional research-related tasks as assigned
