The Research Data Analyst supports faculty-led health economics and health services research projects in the Department of Health Policy and Management. Projects address topics including the health of older adults, mental health and substance use, value in Medicare and Medicaid, health care affordability, and the value and quality of health care delivery. The role may suit someone interested in pursuing a PhD in health economics or health services research, or someone with substantial experience and interest in applied academic research. The analyst constructs, maintains, and uses analytic datasets and research data pipelines, primarily from large administrative sources such as health insurance claims, electronic health records, employment records, and population surveys. Work includes data management, linkage, quality assessment, exploratory analysis, and applying statistical and econometric methods under faculty guidance. The analyst may also work with less structured sources, including clinical notes and business ownership records. The role offers opportunities to contribute intellectually to research and, when contributions warrant, to coauthor resulting manuscripts.
