Research Data Analyst II

UCSF•San Francisco, CA

About The Position

The Research Data Analyst provides research analytical, administrative, and program-coordination support for projects associated with Hospital Medicine and Palliative Medicine research under Dr. Elizabeth Dzeng. The role supports multiple projects and requires the ability to balance tasks across them. Research topics include the effects of financialization in the U.S. healthcare system on clinicians’ delivery of patient-centered serious-illness and end-of-life care; patients’ and surrogates’ experiences of system-level factors affecting end-of-life decisions; structural racism and serious-illness care among older Black adults; and system-level contributors to potentially non-beneficial, high-intensity life-sustaining treatment in older adults with and without dementia. The analyst works with the research team on qualitative data collection and analysis, including coding, maintaining the Atlas.ti database, and conceptualizing and writing manuscripts. The position also contributes to mixed-methods and quantitative projects related to intervention development, identifies synergies across projects and within the Division of Hospital Medicine, and supports research dissemination. Familiarity with clinical medicine, clinical research, healthcare, social sciences, or qualitative research is considered ideal; experience with health equity work or human-centered design is preferred. The Division of Hospital Medicine is described as a national leader in clinical care, education, research, and quality improvement.
