About The Position

We are seeking a research coordinator who will be responsible for managing research studies and projects at the Thrive Lab at UBC School of Nursing. The incumbent will be responsible for the management of specific ongoing research studies and, in addition, will be responsible for ethics and regulatory submissions for new research studies, data management and developing KT materials, including manuscripts. In addition, the incumbent will provide overall facilitation of group objectives by managing varying non-research lab projects, grant submissions, junior research assistants, including students and volunteers. The Research Coordinator will be based in the Principal Investigator’s Research Unit at the Surrey Campus of the UBC School of Nursing.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of three years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • A PhD-level degree, or a Master’s degree in health or social sciences plus equivalent experience
  • Ability to effectively use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Nvivo, and reference management software.
  • Ability to summarize, synthesize, and present research results effectively.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement while adhering to protocols.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Principal Investigator to oversee all phases of research, including planning, execution, evaluation, and reporting
  • Prepare, submit, and update ethics applications and review research ethics procedures
  • Produces manuscripts, reports, and presentations; translates complex findings into plain-language summaries for website content and public materials
  • Responsible for the financial administration of the projects, including preparing budgets and forecasting requirements, and financial reporting.
  • Developing and implementing research/project proposals, protocols, work plans, timelines, and deliverables or milestones
  • Writing project proposals; overseeing data collection; conducting analyses and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data
  • Identifying funding sources and developing funding applications
  • Supervises students and provides leadership in conducting systematic and scoping reviews related to sexual and reproductive health and digital health topics, including protocol development, literature review, data synthesis, and preparation of results
  • Ensures accurate and timely data collection and troubleshoots data collection issues
  • Develop and refine study protocols (e.g., participant eligibility criteria, study outcomes)
  • Collaborate with Principal Investigators' leads for hiring research assistants and contractors
  • Facilitate regular communication to project partners
  • Collaborate with our knowledge users and partners in planning, designing, and implementing KTE activities and materials
  • Enforces adherence to research study protocols and ethical guidelines
  • Facilitate engagement with Patient Partners, including regular communication
  • Lead the creation of the lab websites
  • Provide expertise in research management to develop and achieve project timelines and key performance indicators. This includes accountability for the effective implementation and execution of all research activities and independent decisions regarding the research process
  • Supervise the documentation of decisions related to implementation, data collection and analysis plans, team communications, and community relations
  • Performs other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.
