About The Position

Temple University's CLA/Psychology & Neuroscience Department is searching for a Lab Manager! The Neuroeconomics Laboratory and Control and Adaptive Behavior Laboratory at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania are seeking a full-time Lab Manager. The successful candidate will coordinate day-to-day operations across collaborating research teams supporting NIH-funded projects that use fMRI and behavioral methods to examine neural responses to social reward, decision making, and related cognitive and affective processes. This is an ideal position for a candidate seeking advanced research-management experience before graduate or medical school, or for someone interested in a long-term staff role in academic research. The Lab Manager will be an integral member of the scientific team and will have opportunities to contribute to publications, conference presentations, and multi-lab project development. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's level degree in psychology, neuroscience, economics, engineering, or a related field by the start date.
  • At least 3 years’ relevant research experience is also required including experience coordinating complex research workflows and/or managing the work of others.
  • Prior experience working with human participants in lab-based research studies
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, supervisory, and collaborative skills
  • Strong project-management, organizational, and planning skills
  • Ability to train, coordinate, and monitor the work of staff and student research assistants
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and maintain detailed documentation
  • Comfortable giving presentations to small groups
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends to administer study protocols as necessary

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with older adults and administering neuropsychological assessments
  • Demonstrated experience with REDCap or similar database-management systems
  • Demonstrated experience with statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS) to complete data analyses
  • Demonstrated programming/scripting skills in Python and/or Matlab
  • Prior experience working with MRI

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and help lead day-to-day lab operations across collaborating research labs
  • Supervise one full-time research staff member and several student workers, including work assignment, progress monitoring, and quality control
  • Onboard and train new staff and students in study procedures, participant communication, and lab workflows
  • Assist with neuroimaging data collection and study-visit execution
  • Manage recruitment, screening, scheduling, and participant communications across projects
  • Administer and score neuropsychological assessments according to standardized procedures
  • Manage REDCap-based study workflows and related documentation practices to support data quality and protocol compliance
  • Coordinate routine lab financial transactions and operational purchases using p-card and Concur
  • Support project coordination, cross-lab communication, and continuity of research operations
