This position is a 1-year term with the possibility of extension, located in-person at North Campus Edmonton. The role operates under the direct supervision of Dr. Heather Armstrong at the University of Alberta. The position supports key patient recruitment, clinical sample processing, preparation of laboratory solutions, assisting with routine laboratory assays, advanced clinical specimen culture methods, maintaining laboratory inventory, and performing other lab-related duties. The primary focus will be on patient recruitment, processing human and animal tissues/blood/stool, conducting primary cell culture experiments (e.g., PBMC, organoids, ex vivo biopsy cultures), and performing basic biochemical experiments (e.g., microscopy, flow cytometry, histopathology, ELISAs) related to diet-microbiome-host interactions in IBD.
