About The Position

The School of Social Work Latino Center for Health (LCH) has an outstanding opportunity for a part time Research Coordinator 3. This position is responsible for supporting the mission of the Latino Center for Health and the UW School of Social Work by contributing to our understanding of health promotion for Latino communities in Washington state. This position is directly related to the broader mission of SSW and UW in education, research and community service. This position requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. The candidate who fills this position will work closely with several research team members and community partners to coordinate and support complex projects, with multiple goals and support requirements. This position will require a superior talent for multi-tasking and prioritizing, to support multiple projects comprising different topic areas and activities. Due to the study population, the Research Coordinator must be fluent in English and Spanish.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, Health Administration, or a related field
  • Four years of experience working in a human research setting or relevant experience.
  • Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing Spanish

  • Experience in web-based survey development and research management systems (RedCap, DatStat, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of community-based organizations, health care systems, public health, and relevant agencies
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods

Responsibilities

  • Prepare study materials and forms, including consent and recruitment materials, intervention materials, and assessment materials, dissemination plans and marketing plans (in English and Spanish).
  • Prepare and submit IRB applications and modification requests for research studies. Maintain human subjects for current active grants and tracking IRB updates for multiple grants in excel database.
  • Draft, format, and edit research manuscripts, posters, and presentations of LCH team members and staff.
  • Use research management systems (such as RedCap) and other study databases to track study workflow, participation and engagement, and data quality; generate monthly reports.
  • Conduct qualitative research (in English and Spanish): moderate focus groups; conduct interviews; manage audio files of research interviews and focus groups from transcription through coding; excerpt and code concept interviews and focus groups; analyze and synthesize findings.
  • Search for active Research Funding Announcements (RFAs) and distribute to faculty.
  • Conduct pre-award activities including updating and formatting faculty Biosketches and Other Support documents, drafting letters of support, formatting references, combining documents/creating PDF Files, updating organizational charts/figures, compiling facilities & resources information, and assisting in other aspects of grant preparation.
  • Draft, format ad edit reports on research and on LCH activities as well as quarterly progress reports to NIH and other Federal Agencies: including enrollment, planning and reporting activities, presentations and manuscripts, and network contacts.
  • Ensure that contract responsibilities are executed successfully and completed within time frames by assistant investigators and staff in moving toward completion of milestones and deliverables. Track milestones and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with all key partners: maintain open, timely, and accurate communication with all internal and external stakeholders about developments, changes, and/or new directions and deliverables; communicate priorities, goals, and resources.
  • Coordinate and run ongoing meetings, including center meetings and research proposal preparation/review meetings; prepare agendas using input from supervisors but also from independent judgement; track and assign actionable tasks.
  • Manage budgets for research and community engagement activities; assist with purchasing reimbursement processes.
  • Track grant writing plans and support, and develop quarterly reports.
  • Manage calendars and meeting agendas and minutes by using Outlook and Doodle polls; set up Zoom video conference and send invitations; make room reservations.
  • Coordinate communications: write and edit content for websites and newsletters, update content online, manage email listserves and disseminate updates.
  • Disseminate research products, including instruments, reports, manuscripts, and data products; including processing inquiries, data and user agreements, and invoices.
  • Manage correspondence: monitor email, respond and loop in faculty and research team as needed, prepare and submit forms and documentation using a shared drive.
