About The Position

Boston University Information Services & Technology (IS&T) is seeking applicants with diverse skills and experiences to join our innovative and inclusive community. Boston University is looking for a Research Computing Systems Engineer to join the development and operational efforts of a collaborative project called the New England Research Cloud (NERC). You will contribute to the design, implementation, operation, and support of advanced Research Computing (RC) services based on technologies such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, KVM, and Ceph. As a member of the Research Computing Systems Engineering team at Boston University, you will collaborate with the Mass Open Cloud Alliance on this project. You will work both directly with other team members, clients, and key stakeholders, as well as independently. This position is partially remote.

Requirements

  • Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, KVM, and Ceph.
  • Proficiency in programming skills for automation and monitoring.
  • Experience with configuration management systems for deployment automation.
  • Ability to identify and resolve system and performance issues.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of virtualization and container services.
  • Experience in developing and supporting client workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Automate deployments using a configuration management system.
  • Develop automation and monitoring capabilities using programming skills.
  • Identify and develop resolutions for system and performance issues.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of virtualization and container services.
  • Contribute to the development and support of client workflows utilizing NERC and BU RC services.
