Research Associate- Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep
About The Position
The Research Associate will participate in the planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory investigating lung aging, regeneration, and fibrosis in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division Pulmonary, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep. This role involves developing and implementing study goals and objectives, designing and executing complex laboratory experiments, performing mouse studies, and executing molecular biological and biochemical experiments with independence. The position requires experience in biochemical/molecular techniques such as cell culture, immunoblotting, DNA/RNA preparation, and immunocytochemistry. Efficient multi-tasking and time management are necessary. The associate will collect, analyze, and interpret research data, assist in developing and implementing new research methodologies, test experimental designs, and make recommendations. They will also assist in establishing controls, criteria, and research standards, perform critical analysis of relevant literature, and aid in the preparation of research papers, manuscripts for publication, and presentations at national and international conferences. Additionally, the role involves assisting the principal investigator in preparing proposals for funding, coordinating laboratory activities and work assignments of other research staff, and overseeing the maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment.
Requirements
- Experience in biochemical/molecular techniques such as cell culture, immunoblotting, DNA/RNA preparation and immunocytochemistry.
- Ability to multi-task several experiments simultaneously.
- Efficient time management skills.
- Ability to perform mouse studies.
- Ability to execute molecular biological and biochemical experiments with independence.

Responsibilities

- Oversee and coordinate periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
