About The Position

This position involves developing a high-resolution raster product detailing the production of various crops across Canada. The role requires the collection of municipality-level crop production data (kg/ha) on a province-by-province basis. The Research Associate will work under the supervision of Elena Bennett, PhD, in the Department of Natural Resource Sciences at McGill University's Macdonald Campus. The position is a full-time, temporary contract from April 22, 2026, to October 2, 2026, and is covered by the AMURE collective agreement. Requirements

  • PhD required
  • Experience with large-scale mapping and modelling of agricultural data
  • Experience with machine learning to track environmental change
  • Experience collecting and working with large and complex datasets
  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located
  • English communication both verbally and in writing

  • Collect all municipality level data on crop production (kg/ha), province by province, for this project
