About The Position

The Center for Diabetes Technology (CDT) at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine is seeking multiple Postdoctoral Research Associates to join their research team. This role focuses on complex technology, algorithm development, and data management and analysis within the field of diabetes treatment. CDT is a world leader in technological diabetes treatment and advances the use of analytics for improved data management, monitoring, and therapies for patients with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. The successful candidates will conduct supervised and independent translational research in biotechnology, biomedical engineering, advanced mathematics, and Data Science. They will perform high-profile, NIH-funded research in an interdisciplinary international setting and attend diabetes and technology conferences. There are no clinical responsibilities, but access to physicians through the UVA School of Medicine is available.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree completed at time of hire.

  • Research experience in machine learning, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, advanced mathematics or (Diabetes) Data Science.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct supervised and independent research for the Center for Diabetes Technology.
  • Expand Center-related research lines in the use of machine learning methods for risk prediction, control, classification, and treatment progression.
  • Conduct research in metabolic and behavioral computer simulations related to diabetes and pre-diabetes.
  • Perform modeling, simulation, and model-based analysis of glucose metabolism and control.
  • Validate and test in silico-designed treatments and diabetes-related technology.
