About The Position

The Research Associate V will be responsible for conducting various tests related to animal research, including Y-maze Spontaneous Alteration and spatial memory tests, Rotarod assessment for motor function, and grip strength measurement for skeletal muscle function. The role also involves measuring catecholamines using UPLC, maintaining a mouse breeding colony, and treating mice with peptides for further analysis. This is a part-time position requiring documented expertise in animal handling and various assessment techniques.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (PhD/MD) in a related field from an accredited college or university
  • At least 4 years of related experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Documented expertise in animal handling
  • Assessment of memory, motor function, and skeletal muscle function
  • Measurement of catecholamines using UPLC
  • Experienced in animal research

Responsibilities

  • Conducts Y-maze Spontaneous Alteration Test (SAT) and Y-maze memory test
  • Determines motor function using Rotarod
  • Assesses skeletal muscle function using Grip strength measurement instrument
  • Measures catecholamines in brain samples as well as in plasma using UPLC
  • Maintains the mouse breeding colony
  • Treats mice with peptides and harvests tissues for western blots and immunohistochemical analyses
