We are seeking a skilled Research Associate/Senior Research Associate with experience in utilizing display technologies (yeast/phage) in protein engineering, directed evolution, or binder discovery. This is a laboratory-based role that will be supporting protein engineering efforts in discovering novel binders and novel protein leads/scaffolds. The position will join a growing protein engineering team in an innovative organization and reports to the Director of Protein Engineering. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner with a broad experience set with direct expertise in a display technology and/or an adjacent field including but not limited to high throughput molecular biology, antibody/binder discovery, and protein engineering. Industry experience in biologics drug development is required.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, or a related field.
  • 1+ year industrial drug development experience
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in an aspect of display campaigns or genomics approaches in protein design or directed evolution projects
  • Demonstrated proficiency in one or more of the following workstreams: library design and generation, display-based selection, and assay development
  • Strong molecular biology background and experience.
  • Cell culture experience (bacterial, mammalian, and/or yeast) is required
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions
  • Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams

Nice To Haves

  • Library generation experience is a plus
  • Experience in FACS-based selection and sorting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design and generate display libraries with guidance from experimental and computational data. This includes library preparation and QC, NGS sequencing, and flow cytometry-based lead selection.
  • Culture engineered yeast for use in lead selection and sorting.
  • Construct/convert immune-based repertoires from immunized animal sources for use in both discovery and protein engineering campaigns.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions to optimize lead molecules, ensuring data quality and integrity throughout the discovery and optimization process.
