Position Summary: The Research Associate, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Genomics will conduct laboratory functions under general supervision of the Head of NGS and Genomics. She/He will work as part of a team in the operation of the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Genomics laboratory to achieve departmental goals. Responsibilities include hands-on preparation of NGS libraries, operation, and maintenance of NGS instrumentation including Single Cell, Next Generation, and Third Generation sequencing platforms. Strong ability to troubleshoot routine as well as novel NGS essays such as target enrichment methods, assays to quantify on-and off-target genome editing, ChIP-Seq, ATAC-seq, and other methods to explore chromatin biology.

Requirements

  • B.S./M.S. in Life Sciences with up to four years R+D laboratory experience.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good communication, collaboration, problem solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking in a dynamic team.

Responsibilities

  • Nucleic acid extraction and QC.
  • Manipulation of DNA (PCR, Electrophoresis, etc.).
  • NGS library preparation.
  • Operation and maintenance of NGS instrumentation.
  • Troubleshooting and Quality Control of library construction and sequencing runs.
  • Participate in group meetings for discussion of data and suggested next steps.
  • Maintain detailed records of the work carried out (electronic lab notebook).
  • Prepare and present results at internal meetings.
