About The Position

We are seeking an experimental research associate to join our team at the Broad Institute to build a comprehensive catalog of cellular programs across tissues. We are looking for highly motivated individuals to join this team to make fundamental discoveries in mapping and understanding cellular programs, and developing new tools to uncover mechanisms of disease. Our team develops and applies cutting-edge technologies combining CRISPR-based perturbations, single-cell measurements, and epigenomic profiling in human cells and tissues to understand genetic regulation in health and disease. The laboratory is a dynamic, highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment within the Broad Institute. The successful candidate will work closely with lab members and collaborators across the Broad community on foundational efforts to understand the human genome and its role in health and disease.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or related field
  • Additional 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience in academic or industry setting
  • Hands-on experience in molecular biology, genomics, and/or cellular biology
  • Mammalian cell culture (primary cells and/or cell lines)
  • Standard molecular biology techniques
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and experimental design skills
  • Excellent organization, and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CRISPR genome editing
  • Single-cell sequencing (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, or similar)
  • Stem cells (ES/iPS) or primary human cells
  • Familiarity with high-throughput or pooled screening approaches
  • Exposure to computational analysis or working closely with data scientists

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with scientists and research associates to investigate gene regulation and disease genetics
  • Develop and execute functional genomics experiments, including: CRISPR-based perturbation assays; Single-cell transcriptomic and epigenomic profiling; Cell-based assays in human tissues, primary cells and cell lines.
  • Design and lead independent projects, including developing and optimizing experimental protocols and workflows
  • Contribute to data generation, analysis, and interpretation, working closely with computational collaborators
  • Make significant contributions to publications, presentations, and scientific discussions
  • Help develop, document, and refine laboratory protocols and best practices
  • Maintain strong organization of experimental workflows and lab resources
  • Continuously learn and implement new technologies and methods, sharing knowledge with the team
