About The Position

The Research Associate II performs routine and non-routine research assignments and experiments of moderate complexity and assists with laboratory maintenance. Under general supervision, the role plans, coordinates, sets up, and conducts standard research experiments, prepares biological assays, performs quantitative and qualitative analyses, and may modify research procedures as directed by the Principal Investigator. The position maintains records of tests and collected data, provides preliminary analysis, and assists with compiling, tabulating, and analyzing final data. It also ensures laboratory equipment is accurately assembled, calibrated, operated, and modified according to applicable guidelines; maintains animal and environmental safety compliance and laboratory inventory; and performs literature searches as outlined by the Principal Investigator. The role may provide guidance to junior research staff and performs related duties as required. Preferred research expertise includes primary microglial cell culture and molecular assays, including nitrites, ELISA, and confocal microscopy; peptide bioelectrochemistry and electron transfer; cell-compatible TEER and wireless cyclic voltammetry; computational chemistry and single-photon spectroscopy; holotomography imaging; mitochondrial segmentation; live microglial and astrocyte cell analysis involving reactive nitrogen/oxygen species signaling; and engineering principles for multi-order differential equation mapping of amino acid chemistry damage. Spatial mapping, FLIR, FLIM, and knowledge of wireless devices for measuring radical and electrochemistry in cells are bonuses.
