The Instructor will conduct translational neuroscience research within the Moody Brain Health Institute (MBHI) and the Department of Translational Neuroscience. The position focuses primarily on neurodegenerative diseases and on developing and applying human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cerebral organoid models. Research may involve Alzheimer’s disease and related neurodegenerative conditions, tau and amyloid-beta oligomer toxicity, neural stem cell biology and neurogenesis, and cellular and molecular mechanisms associated with resilience to neurodegeneration. The Instructor will contribute to research project design and execution, experimental data analysis and interpretation, and preparation of manuscripts, scientific presentations, and grant applications. The role also supports new research initiatives, interdisciplinary collaborations, mentoring of graduate students and other research trainees, and participation in graduate and medical education as appropriate. The Instructor will contribute to the broader research, educational, and collaborative missions of MBHI and the Department of Translational Neuroscience.
