Research Associate II, Analytical Development

AntheiaMenlo Park, CA
Onsite

About The Position

As a key member of Antheia’s Analytical Development group, you’ll partner closely with the Downstream Processing (DSP) team to keep high-quality analytical data flowing for process development. This role is hands-on and lab-based, with a strong focus on chromatography (especially LC/HPLC) and routine sample preparation and analysis at meaningful scale. You’ll thrive here if you enjoy steady bench work, take pride in careful execution, and bring a thoughtful, organized approach to managing multiple requests. You’ll be supported by clear SOPs, a collaborative team, and a manager who trusts you to run your day while being available when you need guidance.

Requirements

  • B.S. (or equivalent) in a hard science (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, etc.).
  • 1 to 3+ years of hands-on chromatography experience (industry preferred; strong academic lab experience considered).
  • Comfort with routine sample prep and running established SOP-based assays with care and consistency.
  • Strong fundamentals with basic lab equipment and practices (balances, pH meters, glassware, etc.).
  • A warm, organized, self-directed working style; you’re someone who can manage requests, keep track of details, and communicate clearly without needing daily oversight.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Small molecule pharmaceutical chromatography experience (especially LC/HPLC).
  • Ion chromatography experience.
  • Familiarity with common instrument ecosystems: Agilent (common for LC/GC/MS), Thermo/Dionex (ion chromatography)
  • Experience with MS and related software, for example: ChemStation, Chromeleon, MassHunter
  • Confidence troubleshooting routine instrument or data issues (you do not need to know every instrument, but you’re comfortable learning and applying good judgment).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare solvents, standards, reagents, and routine samples.
  • Run and review chromatography-based assays (LC/HPLC-heavy; other techniques may include GC and ion chromatography).
  • Manage incoming work via LIMS, track requests, and organize your workload so results are delivered on time.
  • Review data, document results clearly, and keep meticulous records and archives.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and calibrations.
  • Support planning and scheduling of instrument time; communicate timelines with partner teams.
  • Contribute to troubleshooting (for example, investigating unexpected peaks or instrument issues) as you grow in independence.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive compensation package, which includes annual bonus potential and equity opportunities
  • Paid time off, in addition to company-observed holidays
  • Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Free access to the Menlo Park Labs Gym
  • Menlo Park Labs free shuttle service to CalTrain, BART Station, and SF
