About the Role: We’re looking for a Research Associate on the San Diego Research and Development team to help us expand what’s possible for patients with serious diseases. Reporting to the Senior Director, Research Gene Therapy, you’ll support gene therapy development through molecular biology, protein analysis, cell culture, sterile technique, and transfection.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or related field.
  • General cellular and molecular biology proficiency (including experience with PCR and Western Blot).
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to interact professionally with colleagues and present research results in written reports and team presentations.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and train other laboratory staff in technical matters.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, with strong willingness to take on new challenges to bring novel medicines to the clinic.
  • Strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Support gene therapy development through molecular biology, protein analysis, cell culture, sterile technique, and transfection.
  • Expand molecular and product specific assay development working with the Gene Therapy Research and Development team.
  • Perform molecular biology (cloning, restriction digests) under the supervision of a senior scientist.
  • Conduct protein science, including western blot.
  • Perform cell culture, sterile technique, and transfection.
