Research Associate Data Scientist - Ajami Lab - Department of Neurology

Cedars-Sinai•Los Angeles, CA
•$79,914 - $135,845

About The Position

The Research Associate Data Scientist participates in biomedical research projects using programming, data mining, statistics, machine learning, and visualization to help develop, evaluate, and apply algorithms, methods, and software for data analysis. The role includes querying databases; cleaning and quality-controlling data; applying supervised and unsupervised machine learning and parametric and nonparametric statistical methods; deploying production models; and helping communicate scientific findings through peer-reviewed publications and conferences. The successful candidate writes clean, performant, reusable code managed on GitHub for repeatable analyses and for training and deploying models across multiple environments. The position supports the Ajami Lab’s new research program at Cedars-Sinai, focused on immune mechanisms driving neurodegeneration, particularly ALS and microglial biology. The Research Associate works with research, senior research, and lead research data scientists and principal investigators to identify how data science can answer biomedical research questions.
