About The Position

At Syngenta Seeds Field Crops, the Research Associate 3 helps generate high-quality field trial data through timely, accurate note collection and sound trial execution. The role supports local trialing efforts to create superior products and helps the Trialing Manager achieve targeted goals by innovating and improving field trial management. The position is an integral part of a team carrying out seasonal work such as planning, communicating, packaging, planting, recording observations, and harvesting yield trials. It also involves operating and maintaining agricultural machinery or research equipment, protecting the integrity of seed packaging and field trials, and supervising operational teams that may include contract labor and Syngenta staff. The associate supports planting, phenotyping, pollinating, and harvest activities, while communicating project and work status to peers and supervisors. All work must follow company safety and stewardship policies and required training.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in an agriculture-related discipline and/or relevant experience preferred.
Experience with precision agriculture equipment and software systems.
Clear understanding of practices and procedures that affect trial data precision and accuracy.
Understanding and demonstrated use of modern agronomic practices.
Ability to communicate clearly and work well as part of a team.
Remote Pilot License or ability to acquire one.
CDL Class A with Airbrakes or ability to acquire it.
Pesticide Applicator License or ability to acquire one.
Ability to use MS Office, Smartsheets, and other standard office software.
Ability to use and support proprietary IT systems for data collection and analysis, agronomic practice tracking, and metric and KPI tracking.

Nice To Haves

Basic understanding of plant genetics and breeding.
Familiarity with the seed technology industry and plant breeding methodologies.
Knowledge of best practices in agronomic management.
Knowledge of or experience with Almaco or precision planting equipment.
Knowledge of or experience operating commercial or research combines.

Responsibilities

Carry out seasonal trial tasks, including planning, communication, packaging, planting, note taking, and harvesting yield trials.
Operate and perform in-field maintenance on agricultural machinery and/or agricultural research equipment.
Support the integrity of seed packaging, field layout, planting, data collection, and harvesting.
Follow company safety and stewardship policies and practices, including completing required training courses.
Supervise on-site and off-site operational teams, including third-party contract labor and Syngenta full-time staff, to achieve data-driven results and resolve minor problems or complaints.
Perform planting, phenotyping, pollinating, and harvest activities.
Communicate regularly with peers and supervisors about project and work activity status.
