About The Position

The Reservoir Engineering Research Associate supports subsurface analysis for Underground Injection Control program, including CCUS, plugging & abandonment, OSR, pore-space evaluation, and long-term performance modeling. Fellows help build the workflow Louisiana needs to responsibly permit, regulate, and monitor subsurface activity under Act 458, while also supporting the NRTA’s financial planning and risk-based prioritization. Analyzes reservoir performance, CCUS storage behavior, well integrity, risk, and legacy-asset profiles. Supports plugging & abandonment prioritization, Mineral Board decisions, NRTA investment modeling, and CCUS permit evaluation. The Reservoir Engineering Research Associate strengthens Louisiana’s ability to manage underground resources safely, anticipate risk, and build a modern subsurface-governance system that protects people, operators, and the state’s long-term fiscal position.
