About The Position

The Research Associate 2 contributes to the University of Miami’s research activities under the supervision of senior staff and supports research activities under the direction of a principal investigator, program director, or their designee. The role contributes to basic and applied research by collecting and analyzing data and maintaining databases. The incumbent interprets research protocols and procedures, follows good research practice and applicable guidance, and maintains awareness of relevant research findings. The position is full-time at UHealth in Miami, Florida.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

Responsibilities

Perform specialized and complex experiments and studies.
Participate in the publication of significant research results.
Advance expertise through education, training, and research.
Write extramural grants and proposals to gain support when appropriate.
Collect, prepare, analyze, dissect, and evaluate specimens and tissue cultures.
Weigh and anesthetize laboratory animals for experiments.
Operate sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment.
Perform calculations to complete research test results.
Perform photography and dark room processing.
Participate in training sessions and workshops.
Collect and analyze data and maintain databases in support of basic and applied research.
Interpret research protocols and procedures, maintain an overview of relevant research findings, and ensure research follows good research practice and guidance.
Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
Perform other duties or responsibilities as necessary.
