About The Position

The Research Associate 1 or 2 position supports the research, data, and analytical activities of the Energy Institute. This role assists with compiling and managing energy-related datasets, performing analysis, reviewing literature, and preparing research deliverables for funded projects and programs. The Research Associate 2 is expected to work with greater independence and perform more complex and varied duties compared to the Research Associate 1.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • One year of related research or work experience (for Research Associate 2)

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in statistics, economics, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS or other GIS software.
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools such as Excel, Stata, and R.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data cleaning, maintenance and updating of energy-related databases and spreadsheets.
  • Use basic statistical analysis tools such as Excel, Stata, and R.
  • Document data preparation and analysis procedures used to ensure data quality and reproducibility.
  • Maintain detailed metadata to help other researchers understand the data sets they are working with.
  • Become familiar and learn to work with ArcGIS or other GIS software to create, edit, and analyze shapefiles and geodatabases.
  • Create maps and visualizations that effectively communicate spatial data insights.
  • Support and participate in research projects by working collaboratively with other research members.
  • Conduct literature reviews, collect and validate data, and perform analysis at the direction of faculty.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports and publications.
  • Assist with the Energy Institute outreach, update presentations geared towards stakeholders and other miscellaneous tasks.
  • Assist with management of the Energy Information Center, Energy Institute website, and supporting the business manager & communications on an as needed basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
