About The Position

The Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute at West Virginia University is seeking a Research Assistant to participate in the development, coordination, and implementation of research projects. This role involves performing a variety of independent and collaborative duties under the supervision of research faculty. The position supports research activities within the Clinical Research Unit, assisting with patient enrollment in studies related to memory problems, addiction, and movement disorders, among others. Responsibilities include compliance calls, patient payment, technology troubleshooting, administering assessments, recording data, maintaining equipment, conducting literature searches, and preparing reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of 0-6 months of related experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Candidate should be outgoing, organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to further the research goals of the WVU RNI.
  • Able to adhere to firm deadlines.
  • Ability to protect participant confidentiality and maintain composure when handling sensitive issues.
  • Knowledge of research methods and design.

  • Experience in clinical research is preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and /or experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain consent and assist patients in enrolling in wearable/biometric studies for memory problems, addiction, movement disorders, etc.
  • Perform compliance calls, patient payment, and technology troubleshooting.
  • Administer cognitive and/or behavioral assessments, assess vital signs, and perform EEG.
  • Plan and schedule research activities.
  • Observe and record appropriate data, checking results for accuracy and completeness.
  • Operate, calibrate, clean, and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment.
  • Conduct literature and library searches on specified topics and prepare abstracts.
  • Prepare and organize basic information for reports to be written by investigators and scientists.
  • Maintain required records, statistics, and reports as mandated by federal or state laws and/or institutional policies.
  • Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
  • Prepare and report results of research activities.
  • Accompany study participants to scheduled appointments and provide assistance, as needed.
  • Perform related duties as assigned or as directed.
