About The Position

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Medicine in Hershey, PA is seeking one part-time Research Assistant to work on funded activities with the Van Scoy Communication Lab. This position will support research projects related to medical decision making, communication quality analysis and mixed methods research occurring in a variety of settings that include rural, urban, underserved communities and other healthcare settings.

Requirements

• Prior experience in an administrative or research support role
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with standard research practices, IRB processes, and regulatory documentation
• Detail-oriented
• Works well independently and as part of a team
• Can manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Nice To Haves

• Experience with REDCap or similar data management systems
• Experience conducting interviews
• Experience coding qualitative data
• Experience working in community and clinical settings
• Associate’s degree or higher (Bachelor's degree preferred) plus 1 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Manages submissions, amendments, and renewals to keep studies compliant and on schedule.
• Assists with application assembly, deadlines, and subaward documentation from proposal through closeout.
• Tracks milestones across studies and keeps priorities visible and on track.
• Handles data entry, form building, and troubleshooting to keep study databases accurate and current.
• Drafts emails, coordinates meetings, and manages day-to-day correspondence with study team and external collaborators.
